HAKU MELE

Custom Ukulele Packaging
& Application Design

YEAR 2018

GRDS 386 Package Design
Savannah College of Art & Design

The goal of this project was to design Haku Mele a custom ukulele package with an interactive element for a music instrument tutorial iOS application.

Haku Mele is a long time music master in Hawaii. After a logo refresh and brand study, the package design was able to begin. A natural inspiration for the color scheme came from palm trees along the beaches of Hawaii. The pattern was influenced by the Hawaiian culture using palm trees and ukuleles as well as geometric shapes, and the handwritten font and inner shadow make the packaging appear as if an artist carved and painted their entire piece from wood.

When a user scans the QR Code it takes the user to the application, where they learn how to play the ukulele in a iOS application.
