Cookbook Design

This project acts as a summative assessment for an Indesign unit in a foundations design course. Adobe InDesign is the industry leading desktop publishing and page layout designing software application. As a fun way to apply the software and discuss “theme,” learners are tasked to develop a cookbook on a theme of their choosing. Some popular themes over the years have included “Halloween Recipes”, “Family Recipes”, or “Foods my kids will actually eat.”

Students must follow the design process, including researching cookbooks, collecting five recipes, and thumbnailing page layouts before ever sitting down at the computer. Once they begin creating in the computer, learners are required to utilize multiple tools from our exercises during the execution of their cookbooks, including glyphs, paragraph styles, and master pages.
